Our Craft
Suzani Khayati is a bridge between heritage and modernity.
Rooted in the traditions of Central Asia and handcrafted in Afghanistan, each piece reflects centuries of artistry, culture, and identity reimagined through a contemporary Parisian lens.
The name Suzani comes from the Persian word suzan, meaning “needle.”
More than a word, it represents a philosophy, patience, precision, and the quiet mastery of handwork. Suzani embroidery is an ancient art form, historically created by hand over months, sometimes years, each stitch carrying intention, symbolism, and story.
Our pieces are handmade by skilled artisans in Afghanistan, using traditional techniques passed down through generations. This process is slow, deliberate, and human far from mass production. Every coat embodies craftsmanship, irregularity, and authenticity.
We are committed to ethical sourcing and responsible production. By working directly with artisans, we aim to support local economies, preserve cultural heritage, and create meaningful opportunities in a region where craftsmanship deserves recognition.
Designed in Paris, our collections reinterpret traditional Afghan silhouettes and materials for a modern wardrobe. Rich textures, natural materials, and bold structures meet clean lines and contemporary styling, bringing Central Asian heritage into a global, urban context.
Each piece is not just a garment.
It is a story, a legacy.
Made by hand. Made with purpose.
Behind every Suzani Khayati piece are people, skills and stories that deserve to be seen.
Our story begins with a connection to Afghanistan — a country whose craftsmanship, creativity and beauty are too often overlooked. We wanted to create something that would bring that artistry to a wider audience, while giving the people behind it the recognition they deserve.
The women behind the work
For us, craftsmanship is not only about the finished garment. It is about the hands that make it and the opportunities that work can create.
We believe in the talent of Afghan women and in the importance of creating opportunities for them to earn through their skills. Supporting women's participation in our production is an important part of the future we want to build.
Our ambition is simple: as Suzani Khayati grows, we want the opportunities behind it to grow too.
A connection between Afghanistan and Paris
Our collections bring together two worlds that are part of our identity.
In Afghanistan, skilled artisans bring the garments to life through careful handwork and knowledge of traditional materials and techniques. In Paris, we develop a contemporary vision for pieces that can be worn and appreciated far beyond their place of origin.
From richly textured Karakul and shearling coats to embroidered Suzani vests, our pieces are made in small quantities, with attention to the details that make each one distinctive.
More than a garment
We don't want Afghanistan to be represented only through its difficulties.
We want people to see its artistry. Its creativity. Its people.
Every piece we create is part of that intention — to celebrate a heritage we care about and help build a future in which the people preserving
